markdown-mode is a major mode for editing Markdown-formatted text. The latest stable version is markdown-mode 2.3, released on August 31, 2017. See the release notes for details. markdown-mode is free software, licensed under the GNU GPL, version 3 or later.

Are you using Emacs 26 already? If yes, you can access your  Google Drive from within your Emacs.  All you need to remember is the file name syntax, which goes something like
/gdrive:john.doe@gmail.com:/path/to/file. Once loaded, your remote Google Drive​ behaves like any  other local folder and you can operate on it with  dired commands.

simplenote2.el is a new version of simplenote.el which assists the interaction with Simplenote. The major improvement points from the original version are

They didn’t put the Mac in Emacs for nothing. (Dear Usual Pedants: I am aware that Emacs predates the Mac. This is an attempt at wit. A bad one, I’ll give you.) Did you know that you could use Emacs navigation keys in TextEdit? And Terminal? And many other Cocoa apps? They all work the way you’d expect. Well, at least mostly. In TextEdit, ^N and ^P go to the beginning and end of word-wrapped paragraphs, not just lines.

All that said, when Emacs and iPhone can both respond to a particular requirement with “there’s an [app|elisp package] for that,” the iPhone variation will usually involve a quick download and three or four fields in a configuration screen, tops.
