In fact the past few years have been replete with critiques of hacker culture, especially as hacker culture has sort of evolved into the tech industry. And I know that many of us have taken those critiques to heart, and in some sense I see my own process of growing up and becoming an adult as being the process of recognizing the flaws in this ethic, and its shortcomings, and becoming disillusioned with it.
(Permalink)QB64.orghttps://sherlock.mrguilt.com/?0DVfSA2019-05-02T13:34:25-04:00The BASIC language has been the front door into programming for countless people. That holds true for us. After having been exposed to it in the early contacts with computers, most people have developed a love for programming that not only goes on today but also extends to the language itself. Contrary to what some may say, having learned BASIC has given to many the basis for a long-standing career writing computer software.

An Australian guy once decided that using emulation to be able to run QuickBASIC/QBasic in modern systems was a drag and decided to change that, and thus QB64 was born (originally as QB32). What it does is translate BASIC code into C++, which then gets compiled into native binaries for Windows, Linux and macOS.

QB64 not only allows for older programs written in BASIC to run smoothly in today's modern systems but it also allows for modern software development as it extends the language to use advanced features available in operating systems nowadays as well as OpenGL, which is the library used for rendering across different platforms.
(Permalink)The case of the 500-mile emailhttps://sherlock.mrguilt.com/?5LoKgA2019-03-07T16:11:51-05:00(Permalink)How I'm still not using GUIs in 2019: A guide to the terminalhttps://sherlock.mrguilt.com/?o2Bq3w2019-03-03T10:22:31-05:00(Permalink)Courier Prime | Quote-Unquote Appshttps://sherlock.mrguilt.com/?uGD71w2019-01-04T10:02:41-05:00(Permalink)Visual Studio Code - Code Editing.
